In 2029, the University of Stuttgart will celebrate its 200th anniversary. Founded in 1829 by King Wilhelm I of Württemberg as the “United School of Real and Applied Sciences,” elevated to the status of a technical college in 1890, and expanded into a university in 1967, it boasts a rich history of scientific achievements and milestones in the history of technology.
This anniversary offers a unique opportunity to reflect on this development. Inspiration for the future can be drawn from the many stories of people, machines, and innovations.

Suggest exciting objects from the University’s 200-year history!
These could be complex apparatus from experimental research or simplified models used in university teaching. Individual objects that embody an innovation and its industrial application may be sitting in a display case in your department’s hallway. Even seemingly unremarkable everyday objects from administration or construction represent the history of our University. They are all worthy of being brought into the spotlight.
Help us make highlights from the 200 years of University history visible for the 2029 anniversary: as an exhibition or publication, in print, online, or in a display case.
