Since Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the circulation desk in the University Library City Center is again located at the usual place on the 1st floor in front of the entrance to the reading room. The book pick-up is now also back at the usual location at the reading room entrance.
The PC pool in the hall on the 1st floor, which is managed by the TIK, has also been in operation again since Wednesday.
The entrance hall on the ground floor will be restored to its original state with reading lounge and group work tables in the next few days.
The construction work that led to the longtime closure has been largely completed, so that we can make the reading room with Learning Center and the open stacks available to the public again on Monday, January 16.
As a result of a defective radiator in the reading room, unfortunately another minor water damage, which is currently being provisionally sealed, occured in the reading room during the closure period over the Christmas season due to the energy crisis. For this reason, the auditorium on the ground floor, into which water drained from the affected heating circuit, also had to be closed. The scope of the necessary remedial measures in this area is currently being determined. Until then, this room will not be available for use. As a result of this new accident, smaller areas in the reading room will also remain closed for the time being.
We therefore ask for your patience until the damage has been repaired. However, large parts of the reading room are expected to be available for use again as of next Monday - albeit initially at a reduced temperature as the heating circuit affected by the accident is currently out of operation.
