University Library open for Restricted Loan Service

Please note the special opening hours and the notes on loan services!

Currently, the University of Stuttgart Library, City Center location, is only open for pickup and return of items. The collection of ordered items and the return of borrowed items is possible Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., study spaces and workspaces are not available.

At the Vaihingen location, the collection and return of items is possible Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. as well as Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There are 16 study spaces offered at the Vaihingen location which can be reserved by members of the University via a booking system.

Service hours at both locations are Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This year, the University Library will be completely closed at both locations (Vaihingen and City Center) from Dec. 24, 2021, to Jan. 2, 2022.

It is still not possible to open the reading rooms due to building-related technical problems. You can find information on the problematic situation of the University Library buildings on our new BAU-BLOG (DE).

External users can reserve a library computer at both locations via a booking system. For this, a 3G certificate (vaccinated, recovered, tested) is required, external nonimmunized persons need a PCR test not older than 48 hours.

Outside of opening hours, items can be returned at the Vaihingen location via the book drop next to the main entry.

Borrowed items can be renewed up to 5 times, provided there is no hold (as before, only 10 days before the loan period expires, of course).

The electronic services of the University Library are available to members and affiliates of the University via remote access under the usual conditions.

The Campus Delivery Service LEA is available to students and employees of the University.

The University Library can also be reached via the "Ask a Librarian" web form.

Questions regarding dissertation submission can be emailed to or called in (+49 711 685-83512). Inquiries will be answered as promptly as possible.
