December 10, 2025 / tos / wia / UB

Start searching one of the largest multidisciplinary abstract and citation databases for scientific publications. Scopus will replace the previous Web of Science database, which will remain available to university members until December 31, 2025.

Scopus provides access to millions of articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters with broad interdisciplinary coverage of various scientific disciplines. With its extensive citation database and powerful search functions, it is an indispensable tool for literature research and bibliometric analysis.

Scopus currently indexes approximately 49,200 scientific journals, making it one of the largest multidisciplinary abstract and citation databases for research literature and other sources. Various tools are available for tracking, analyzing, and visualizing research information from different subject areas, such as

  • engineering and natural sciences, technology,
  • mathematics and computer science,
  • economics and social sciences,
  • arts and humanities,
  • medicine and health sciences.

Further data in Scopus:

  • References and abstracts from peer-reviewed Journals
  • Patent specifications and conference papers
  • Author profiles
  • Daily updates
  • Retroactively searchable abstracts up to 1970 (some dating back to 1788)
  • References in addition to abstracts for all articles published since 1969
  • Links to full-text articles and other bibliographic Sources
  • Continuously expanding range of open access and electronic-only journals
  • Continuously expanding range of book titles

In addition to extensive search options, users can create their own search profiles and make use of an alert service (also available as RSS feeds).

Additionally, the Scopus AI component is licensed for 2026 and is available to members of the University of Stuttgart on a trial basis for one year: https://www.elsevier.com/de-de/products/scopus/scopus-ai

Access to Scopus is now available. Until the end of the year, you can use both systems parallel to prepare for the switchover individually.

To use Scopus, click on “Sign in” in the top right-hand corner, then select the option “Sign in via your organization,” type in “Stuttgart,” select “University of Stuttgart,” and authenticate yourself with your credentials.
