Fiber ropes are made of modern synthetic fibers and are used for sports and leisure activities, for example on playgrounds or for climbing. From small to large ropes, the areas of application are very diverse, as the low mass offers various advantages over wire ropes. The picture shown is a mooring rope from the maritime industry and can be explored in the Institute of Mechanical Handling and Logistics IFT collection.
