Partial Opening of the University Library City Center and Temporary Study Spaces

A total of approximately 300 study spaces have been set up outside the closed reading room.

Partial opening of the University Library City Center

The work on a construction power supply, which became necessary with the disconnection of all power distributors in operation since the construction of the building, has been completed. As of October 25, the entrance hall, the auditorium and the catalog hall in front of the circulation desk on the first floor will be reopened to the public.

The reading room and learning center will remain permanently closed.

The library building City Center will continue to be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. only.

 

Temporary study spaces in the University Library City Center

The library has made every effort to set up as many temporary study spaces as possible to at least partially replace the inaccessible spaces in the reading room and learning center.

Beginning Wednesday, October 25, 2023, the University Library will provide approximately 200 study spaces in the entrance hall and adjacent auditorium as well as the catalog hall on the 1st floor. These can be occupied by students Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The spaces in the auditorium have been arranged for group work.

Electricity is available on the ground floor only at some seats by the windows, and on the 1st floor at all seats. A connection to the university WiFi is available.

 

Temporary study spaces in the container building Breitscheidstraße 2C

As early as Monday, October 23, 2023, 99 study spaces will be available in the Breitscheidstraße 2C building. These spaces, set up by Departments 6 and 8, can be occupied by students Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Tables and chairs are available. Electricity connections are limited here. The university WiFi is accessible.
